Remember Me

Yesterday, I auditioned for an amdram thing at the Network Theatre before I went out to that Scribosphere get together.

I sight-read some stuff I liked from the play and then they made me read this speech from some Greek play or something but I kept stopping because I couldn't read it let alone act it. Didn't think it was a good sign. But patted myself on the back for auditioning. (I must be more supportive of myself!)

Anyway, they contacted me today to give me the part of Andromache (the Greek drama bit I was stumbling on) which was surprising. I am chuffed with it as it's physical theatre, which I haven't seen much of but I think I want to explore it in the next play I want to write. I am only in one scene but it's enough for me as I don't want to take on too much as I've got tough writing deadlines ahead but I do need to get out more.

So, this is the play:

Remember Me: 23rd - 26th September

Two children, a haunting chorus of time, walk us through the corridors of history.
Along the way weaving together classic and contemporary texts that remember the every man, the unsung heroes and victims of war.
A fusion piece involving movement, film, projection and music.
The stories that go untold.
The stories of every day suffering of the people behind the face of war.

Will let you know how it goes.

Finished reading The Stone by Marius von Mayenburg. The blurb at the back of the play said it was "Brilliantly clever and funny... exhilarating." I'm thinking that the humour was lost in translation or that it is one of those plays that is all about the direction and acting as the dialogue was pretty sparse. I didn't see any jokes. There was a good speech in it, though. Very moving.

Hi,
Saw you the other night at the Scribomeet. Sorry I was unable to exchange more than a couple of words, I wasn't trying to be rude, I just couldn't hear over the general hubbub (sic???). I was having trouble hearing what people were saying right next to me as it was!

Hopefully, there'll be another chance in the future; perhaps when a little quieter too!

Had forgotten... it's a walking stick!:)

Yes, I had a look. A walking stick and not a gun... dunno where I got the gun from.

I love this picture, though.

Nice to see you. Maybe next time we can have a conversation!!!
